No long-term contracts—our service is tailored to your current needs.
If funding runs out or your organization's needs change, there's no penalty for scaling down or pausing.

Technical specifications
Professional infrastructure designed for reliability and performance.
Server location
Digital Ocean Toronto data center
Your data stays in Canada, managed via Cloudways for reliable service.
Storage
60GB solid-state drive (shared)
Plenty for typical advocacy or nonprofit sites, including pages, images, and backups. Not meant for huge archives or video storage—use YouTube or Vimeo for videos.
Performance
4GB RAM with modern hardware
Your site will load quickly and handle normal visitor traffic smoothly. Ideal for small to medium-sized sites.
Bandwidth & visitors
Up to 100,000 visits/month
Perfect for most advocacy, nonprofit, and small organization sites. No strict bandwidth limits, but very high traffic may require a server upgrade.
What is "virtual" hosting?
Virtual hosting means your website shares a powerful, secure computer (server) with other sites, all separated in their own private "spaces." You don't need any server equipment—everything runs on professional infrastructure in a data center.
We manage your virtual "slice" so you never have to worry about the technical side. Think of it like renting an apartment in a well-maintained building—you get your own space, but you share the building's infrastructure.

Our server is provided by Digital Ocean in their Toronto data centre, so your data stays in Canada. We have this set up via Cloudways (also owned by Digital Ocean), which provides excellent support and management tools.
While we are a small team and administer the server ourselves, set up accounts, and handle day-to-day operations, we use Cloudways' support team as our backup.
This means we can turn to them at a moment's notice if anything is going wrong, or to help us troubleshoot issues. They're very good at tracking down any issues quickly.
No. While many organizations choose WordPress for simplicity, we also support other website platforms or custom web applications. If you have a different setup or need something custom, just let us know—our hosting is flexible and can be adapted to suit your organization's needs.
You do not have to be a Moonjoule design client to use our hosting service. Hosting is open to any advocacy or nonprofit group that shares our values, regardless of who designed your site—we welcome projects built elsewhere and are happy to host sites designed by others.
Yes! We can provide guidance on getting onto ethical tech and help your team explore alternatives to Google Workspace and other big tech platforms—at your pace, when you're ready. No pressure, just support when you need it.
Our server is ideal for websites receiving up to 50,000 visits per month. If your site's popularity grows and you start getting more traffic, we can increase resources so your website keeps running smoothly. We'll work with you to adjust pricing fairly if resource needs change.
Your organization's autonomy is always protected. You'll receive a "Little Red Book" (credentials guide) containing all your hosting login credentials and clear instructions on what to do and who to contact to regain access or transfer control of the site if we're ever unavailable or incapacitated.
